Shimla sees snowfall after 8 years

Tourists visiting the Himachal Pradesh capital for the New Year celebrations were in for a pleasant surprise as the city on Thursday experienced the season’s first snowfall adding to its scenic appeal.

The snowfall started around 10 am in Kufri, about 35 km from Shimla. It soon reached the capital.

Even as temperature fell sharply, the cold weather did not deter the visitors as they basked in the unexpected snow flurry. It was, therefore, no surprise that neither the vacationers nor the residents complained about it.

It is after eight years that the city has witnessed snowfalls. Most tourists now hope for a white New Year to add to the enjoyable experience.
