Star wives & their professions

Wonder woman is not just the stuff of movies; they exist in real life too. It is common knowledge that bollywood is ruled by our leading stars predominantly the Khan clan. But few know that when it comes to their personal lives, wife’s the word. These star wives are every bit as successful as their husbands and are content in their independent careers.

Gauri Khan
Gauri can rightly be called the Queen Khan and not just for marrying the top reigning actor of Bollywood. She is a successful producer and co-owns Red Chillies Entertainment with husband Shah Rukh Khan. She has successfully produced films like ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Paheli’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ & most recently, the very expensive, ‘Ra One’. She has also teamed up with Suzanne Roshan to come up with her signature furniture line. Apart from films, she also co-owns Kolkata Knight Riders and is a brand ambassador of the upholstery brand D’decor. She sure has her hands full!

Suzanne Roshan
Suzanne studied Interior Designing from Brooks College, California and now runs her super successful interior design boutique – House of Design in Mumbai. After the tremendous success of her first venture, she’s recently launched her second store – The Charcoal Project. She has done up many celebrity homes including those of Rani Mukherji & Priyanka Chopra.

Twinkle Khanna
Convincing the eternal Casanova to settle down is a big achievement in itself, but Twinkle Khanna has managed to do so much more. She was never satisfied as an actor and quit as soon as she got the chance. She now runs her successful interior design store – The White Window in Mumbai, which has won the prestigious Elle Decor International Design Award. She has regular celebrity clients. Apart from her business, she also produces films with her husband.

Kiran Rao
Kiran was always an independent woman, long before she met Aamir. She was the Asst. Director of Lagaan when she met him. Even after marrying the most bankable star in Bollywood, she maintains her separate identity. She has an eye for good scripts and helps Aamir pick them. She turned director with her movie ‘Dhobi Ghat’ which won a lot of critical acclaim.

Adhuna Akhtar
This woman’s got magic in her hands. She is a super successful hair stylist and A-list celebs are her regular clients. She was the one who gave trendy hairstyles in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ that became all the rage. Apart from her hair styling ways, she is also trying hands in reality television with her new show ‘Be Blunt’ on Discovery Travel & Living

Maheep Kapoor
Although not at the forefront like many other star wives, she is a power to reckon with. She is a successful jewellery designer and has numerous high-end boutiques to her credit. A-list celebs are her loyal clients and fall back on her for red carpet appearances or film roles. Her jewellery pieces are, apparently, to die for.

Tanya Deol
Tanya belongs to a rich business family (Ahujas) and has always been in the lap of luxury. But she wasn’t satisfied with that and opened her own furniture and home accessories store – The Good Earth.

Mana Shetty
This woman may definitely be more successful than husband Suniel. She has investments and interests in various sectors like fashion, construction, hotels etc. She is a fashion designer and is also associated with several NGOs working for the cause of under-privileged children. She often organises fund-raisers and events to support such noble causes. Today, females are every bit as aggressive as men when it comes to their career. And these star wives have definitely carved a niche for themselves and have a separate identity than their husbands. Here’s to more woman power!
